over-indulgent mirages of self-importance result in the sort of vile bloodshed
that recalls
400 A.D. and demands nothing short of cultural sabotage.
Over our heads, a
trans-oceanic pissing contest with horrific stakes continues to threaten
humanity's par for devastating self-destruction. Again, over-indulgent
mirages of self-importance cloud minds. In this case, however, we are all
in that school house; we are all subject to the whims of crazed gunman with
suits and diplomatic immunity.
It seems that I am always surrounded, deeply affected by the flotsam of
over-indulgent mirages of self-importance. Is it American culture?
Western culture? Human nature? The former feels warmer. We
are the master's of the universe, right? Wolfe's McCoy,
an archetype, peaks through the spotty complexions of the thousands I pass on
the Street each day. We are made to believe that, sometimes, we are the
center of the universe, other times, deeply connected to everyone on the
planet. Groomed to consume. Myriad and infinite over-indulgent
mirages of self-importance have yielded a vicious indoctrination machine.
While non-conspiratorial, this machine has all the trappings of intentional
obfuscation and delusion. We are made to spin in on ourselves when
profitable and made to self-consciously spin out when the action can be
exploited.
The end result, of course, is billions of people who assume that their personal
delusions of grandeur are worth a damn. The
myself. Chances are quite good that what we think is important is not,
nothing but games.
This is the Void, the mindless abyss of self-indulgence and abstraction.
Without the Bridge, the gleaming responsibility of our own destiny, of
construction, re-development and compassion we will spiral
downwards. We cannot remain self contained vessels of credit and ego, it
simply will implode.
